What are you trying to test?

Performance?

Vibration?

Sound level?

Pulsation?

Seal leakage?

Drive motor ?

Lube oil?

You need to be a bit more specific about what you are trying to get to...

You are completely right for the questions. Thanks

Actually I am at the moment in need a setup for the performance test. My main problem is to create a performance curve.

I'm thinking we're having a terminology problem here. A "roots blower" in my industry (semiconductor) is a high speed rotary type vacuum pump used in conjunction (usually mounted atop) of a more efficient (lower base pressure) vacuum pump attached to the low side. These are used to create a vacuum in whatever is attached to the high side of the blower. These blowers are meant to speed the evacuation of a large chamber and should not be run stand-alone. They are not meant to be compressors so perhaps our terminology is different.

The machine is defined at this link :http://www.it.iitb.ac.in/vweb/engr/mech/axial%20compressors/www.cashflo.co.uk/roots.html

My specific need is to use this machine for pneumatic conveying.

Nice link! Roots makes a variety of machines, including vacuum pumps.

Touche'. See what happens when you get pigeon holed in an industry and take a name for a generic description? "laughs"

The gold standard for performance tests is the ASME power test code... that may be overkill for what you are doing. Is it a shop test or a field test?

Basic parameters you will need to measure include:

Suction pressure and temp

Discharge pressure and temp

Flow

Gas composition

Pressure and temperature measurments should be made close to the machine. Temp needs to be taken in a thermowell that reads the temp in the main part of the flow.

Why?

What is wrong with the original equipment manufacturer's published performance curve?
