Photoelectric Sensor

01/24/2008 7:13 AM

I am trying to install a photoelectric sensor and strobe warning light for a hidden walkway, and want to use a photoelectric sensor with at least a 10 second time off delay, using 110 V, without using a seperate relay or timer. Anyone know where I could purchase one? Or do I need to use a relay?

Hello Guest,

Welcome to CR4!

Passive Infrared (PIR) motion detectors having a delayed turn-off time are widely available. If you're in the US, you can find them at WalMart, Home Depot, Sutherlands, Tru-Value Hardware stores and the like. Most of these detectors have an adjustable turn-off time ranging from around 10-15 seconds to over a minute and they all run on 110 VAC. Is this what you're looking for?

I have used some adjustable timers manufactured by Ametek NCC. I purchased them from Allied. Try looking at alliedelec.com if the pre-made units from reply #1 don't suit your needs. Good luck.
