This is absolutely awful! Where would I hang my Click and Clack coffee holder?

On the dashboard. Note the advantages in safe parking and car-chassis integration

Loads of benefits...

Better access for the disabled or obese...better knicker glimpsing potential (Kris made me write that ) . And if it makes the car heavier and less efficient the Americans will love it.

Is there anyone I haven't offended yet? I'm not sure if it will appeal to gay carbombers..I'm joking guys.....

Del

(Mrs K still hasn't sussed why I shine my shoes to perfection.).

They didn't have a lot to say about side impact protection. If electric windows can kill, I wonder what potential this slide-under thing has. Hell, you could guillotine a whole family.

That's me arriving for work. Maybe. There's a whole flock that aren't as cool, and lots of nice heavy 'sliders'

The Delorean and Merc had Gull Wings which took a lot of side-space when opened

As an American, all I can say is I LIKE IT!! Where and when can I get one? Especially in a 1 Ton Dually Ford F350 four wheel drive.

I would be the envy of everyone in Houston. It would be the ultimate cowboy Cadillac

I would like to add that I commute across Ohio (USA) by myself in my F350 4x4, sixty miles each way, with a dirty air cleaner! (Actually the last car I bought is rated for 40 MPG)

They could use the electric sliding doors that are common to minivans and derive many of the same benefits. I'm surprised that they aren't more widely applied, given that they are a proven and refined technology. Maybe it's BECAUSE they are common to minivans...

Re: New thought on car ergonomics

I guess you're basically right. Maybe once they decide to think "out of the box", they also decide to go original for a change. Maybe slide doors protrude in a way that's mechanically complex to maintain or be kept safe, who knows?

My concern with this radical solution is that it seem completely automatic, and in case something goes wrong with the electro-mechanics, it could chop somebody or something off like a guilliotine...

Besides, why should it fold to the bottom and not over the roof?

Strange, People keep re-inventing the same thing over and over, My vehicle has super easy enrty and exit. It also gets around 100 mpg and will accelerate to over 100 mph in less that 15 seconds, reaching 60 mph in less than 10. It is available practically anywhere in the world. It is called a motorcycle... 250cc thanks.
