Is there a small component that converts 12volts to 24volts to enable the running of a 24volt night heater in a 12volt vehicle please?

How much power do you need?

04/21/2006 1:56 PM

12 to 24 volt converters aren't too hard to find. You can find them here on GlobalSpec's web site Once you know the output power level you need, click on "Output" on the left side of the page and fill in the DC output power level you need (the heater should be marked with either power, or current from which you can figure out power - at 24 volts, P = 24*I (amps)). Then click "Update Results" and you'll get a list of companies offering parts that may meet your need. A little further investigation will be necessary to be sure. Click the company's name to get a list of matching parts. You can get more part details from the page that follows.

12v to 24v

Much cheaper if the space is not an issue is a second batterie wich you switch from parralele to serial connection. This is use on many heavy equipment where the whole system run on 12v but the starter uses 24v. just make sure to send 24v only on your heater circuit. Other component may not like it.

I like this solution but how does one charge the second battery (w/ a 12V alternator)if it's configured for 24V?
