Telephone Conversation Recording?

01/28/2008 7:23 AM

we are working as a member of TSCM in our country and now we r doing recording telephone conversation.

we have done it already, just it records both sides communication and records it into computer. now we have got one problem, that is when the telephone conversation starts, it doesn't record the conversation automatically but we open Start>programs>accessories>entertainment>sound recorder,

after opening that path we click in the sound recorder just to record, but this is not a good design as there is no need to put one person in the computer so as to open that path every telephone conversation is happening.

so how do we automatically open that path and save the conversation when there is telephone conversation?

we thank U a lot!

Well, for a start I would put a shortcut to the progam on your desktop so you didn't have to go through the menus to reach the program!!

Secondly I would have to ask how you're recording the conversation and with what? I'm sure if you have a genuine piece of software/hardware dedicated to this task it would have a built in VOX (voice operated switch) to start and stop recording...

I had a dial-up modem card once that could do this. You could also set it up to use the PC mike & speakers for hands-free calls. 'Fraid it all got junked a few years ago.

Re: Telephone Conversation Recording?

hello Electroman

our difficultiy is not a matter of having shourtcut, even if it is a shortcut, it will not begin automatically when telephone conversation is started.

what we want is to when conversation is started or when the phone is activated,

automatically it should try to record and save it.

we think that it needs source code on how to activate it automatically and save it to certain type of file, for example, if file one was conversation1.wav, file 2 would be conversation2.wav, just go on like this.

hope u continue ur help

You need some different software such as Fax/modem software that will automatically monitor your calls. This can easily be configured to monitor and record all calls.

Its perfectly legal in the UK, as long as there is a message stating that the message may be recorded, so both parties know.

I'm not sure, but some time ago it was legal to record telephone conversations as long as only one party knew i.e. you can't record a telephone conversation without the people knowing.

Hi Electroman.

I heard in the news today that they had changed the law here in the UK, it transpires that six terrorists have been in court today after the police taped their telephone messages to Pakistan and each other. The police didn't alert any of them that they were tapping their phones.

Yes Scapolie, but that was to give the police permission to record without either party knowing, they have to get approval from the Home Office to put a tap on a telephone line for security purposes - well supposedly get approval, know what i mean nudge nudge !!

Hi Elecroman.

In todays newspaper they have printed a list of the 792 bodies that can monitor your telephone calls and your written correspondence here in the UK.

Here is the list:

MI5,

MI6,

GCHQ,

Royal Military Police,

British Transport Police,

All 52 Police Forces,

Serious Organised Crime Agency,

HM Revenue and Customs,

All 139 Prisons,

All 474 Councils,

Fire Authorities,

Ambulance Service,

Independent Police complaints Commission,

Financial Services Authority,

Serious Fraud Office,

Food Standards Agency,

Environment Agency,

The Post Office,

Ministry of Defence,

DEFRA,

The Department of Health,

Department of Communities, Local Government and the Regions,

Home office,

Repartment of Trade and Industry,

Minister of Justice,

Department for Work and Pensions.

All of these agencies can snoop on you without the approval of the Home Office!!!

This law "Regulation of Investigatory Powers act 2000 came into power in 2002. So now we really live in a "Big Brother State"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Coooo that is really scary....

Some og those shouldn't be allowed, or maybe they should...

I assume the prisons can monitor telephone calls from inmates and not the general public though?

Telemarketers record telephone conversations. They say it is so that they can monitor their people.

If you tell them you don't want to be recorded they have a problem because the system automatically records.

I can't see a lot of engineers wanting their conversations recorded. Would a recorded conversation be legally binding?

Suppose a contractor phoned about doing some rework and he would be backcharging you. You said OK on the phone but there was some misunderstanding about what he was talking about and it wasn't just a simple rework job.

Stan, a verbal agreement is sufficient to form a contract whether it is recorded or not!! If it is recorded then you have evidence, or they do!

A contract is formed as soon as you agree to something - I've had experience of this from a shadey advertising salesman, he was talking about me taking an advert in their magazine etc... and I mumbled about needing the weekend to think about it but it sounded like a good deal...

He took that as a yes, and so he claimed we had a contract and went ahead.... When I was invoiced for several thousand £s I told them to eff off and they tried to take me to court but they wouldn't have won as nobody recorded the conversation so it was his word against mine... GULP!!!

A contract is formed as soon as you agree to something - I've had experience. . .

In this country U.S.A. an offer renumeration of money or kind is required to make it a valid contract. You can ask a guy if he wants his garage painted and you say ok and he says ok. Then you can ask what color he wants and he can say white but until you say thats gonna cost ya some or name a price and he agrees it most likely will be tossed out as no valid contract was actually made. At least according to my current mouth piece ( aka lawyer) on retainer. I have one because I'm not a lawyer. . .

But you are acurate to be very careful what ya say lol !

Hi mekellecity, what you need is a program, that normally is used for transferring old LP's to CD, that you can set to make a new track, every time there is a pause between numbers on the LP. (or nobody is talking...), and it also has to have some sort of threshold that can be adjusted, and also some timing, so if you are thinking of what to say in the call, it doesnt start a new track, only after maybe 10 sec. or something like that. www.magix.com provide such a program called "audio cleaning lab", I find it very easy to use, very reliable, not hard on the pc (800mhz P3 is more than enough) and no advertising crab. It can even save as mp3 if you want. You can use other similar software if you wish, but this is a suggestion... regards moe

Hi JohnDG.

Now that you have read the paper, what do you really think about it? One of my neigbours is a 52 year old Russian Lady, when I showed her the news paper artical she told me that even during the comunist era not as many departments could be allowed to to that!!!
