Engineering Design Firms

We want to build a prototype of a flue gas after treatment stage for a coal fired power plant and we need to contract an engineering house to do it for us. Some of the big houses I contacted say they "don't do work for vendors," and they will not tell me who they hire to do it for them. I need a recommendation, a list of firms and names to call to get my prototype designed and built. Of course, the firm we are looking for has to have experience doing this kind of work. Can anyone suggest a name or two? Thank you!

The prototype is to be built and tested in the USA, but there will be applications elsewhere

I tried those (all three) and came up with the list I have. They are telling me that my design contract is essentially beneath them, and that they only spec things for some mysteryous firms to design. I want in on the mystery

One firm i know of that does both build and design, having engineering teams onboard. Some of the past projects include Union Oil refinery, the refinery field in Martinez, CA. I think this is the type of team your looking for Contact: "Bechtel Corporation 50 Beale Street San Francisco, CA. Off the top of my head I don't recall the phone number but it is 415 area code. If they are to busy I am sure they will refer you to someone. The average projects are in the billions per contract. they also do projects in the Middle East oil fields. You might find a Project Mgr there who might be aware of flue gases, they do have experience in coal fired power plants aswell as electric. Its a huge company, so gettin to the right person may need repetitive calling. My mother was Project and Corporate secretary for them for over 20 years. Be specific as a few Project mgrs will be involved in your project.

I worked for 12 years for design, manufacture, assembling and start-up applications about fluegas treatment systems. We generally use the Wet-Type Packed & Un-Packed systems and use caustic, lime, limemilk, lakewater, seawater systems as absorbent. You can reach me from cemataser@yahoo.com

One is URS Corp. Website is urscorp.com.

They currently are doing several flue gas projects on coal plants and have joined with the Washington Group to round out their nuclear capabilities.

Most major cities have an office although some offices specialize in different disciplines.
