Painting Work for Dam Stopgates

01/30/2008 11:50 AM

Dear sir,

As our standard painting spec for stopgate is primer followed by black coal tar epoxy finishing, our client insist their painting spec for surface is glass flake reinforced polyester with flake glass (curing agent:organic peroxide) of thickness 750mm microns.

We understand flake glass painting spec may be not suitable as they can corrosive and may damage the gates use in the waste water Dam, is there any technical information on this. We need to prove to client it is not suitable at all.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Mr Calvin

I would consider that you have advised your client of your doubts about his request, but if that is what he wants make sure your contract specifications are per customer requirements and do what the customer wants.

Garth, Thanks for your reply.

We experienced client that argued we "specialist" should advise them rather than "blindly" follow the spec. So now we want to take one more step to advise if we are very sure the painting system the client stated in spec is not advisable to use.

Best to advise client that working outside of your professional experience/supply sources can occur only by their granting you complete relief of liability waiver on installed items....use your attorney for this.....insist their attorney sign also.
