Switch Requirements

01/31/2008 6:19 AM

OK-I need some help from my fellow CR4 ers. I need a optical? switch that will turn on and off an 120v a.c. motor when I break the beam with my hand. It will be used inside the house. I want it to be a momentary operation. The range of the beam need only be 10 ft. Any suggestions? Thanks-James

The safety sensor beam from most garage door openers provides a momentary contact closure. Here's one from Genie. Add a latching relay and your all set.

Install Photoelectric sensor. On cutting the light the sensor will actuate a relay.the relay will in turn actuate a contactor to switch on a motor. The circuit has to be made and devices to be assembled to achieve the result.
