Corridor lights

02/02/2008 11:44 AM

I have to install lights for a long corridor. There are two entrance to this particular hall and the same used as exits. Without using manual switches (I mean two intermediate change over switches) how to put on lights and put it off using sensor devices such as IR or photo cell or sound activated. From where can I obtained industrial type of these kinds.

The sensors used on external yard lights and garage lights could easily be fitted to your hall lights these have a variable delay built into them to give you time to do whatever you wish before going out again.

Good point.

Further, the switched output can usually be wired in parallel with another switch, so that either of the two sensors at each end of the corridor will turn the lights on, and the lights will go off when both sensors have timed-out.

The poster could do a little research at a local major home improvement retail outlet, perhaps?

I use Leviton products for all my lighting automation. They are inexpensive, readlily available, and durable. The website provides documentation, example installations and sales contact information.

By using low voltage control.. i.e. solid state relay and a lighting contactor would do the job. IR or photo cell could easily power a 24V. Same with Sound. YOU could get everything you need from Grainger.com
