Replacement High Performance Cooling Fan for Canada

02/04/2008 4:48 AM

I am looking for replacement fans to be used in a radio transmitter. The end user will be Canadian so the fan must have UL/CSA approval.

Current axial fans have a physical size that approxiates to a cube with 230mm long sides. Four are packed tightly together in a 2x2 matrix. The airflow is then ducted onto the heatsinks. My searches to date have failed to locate a suitable replacement.

Fan Spec

600CFM with 2" Wg static pressure. 410V ac 3-phase supply although I can redesign the transmitter to accept 208V 3-phase or single phase fans of any voltage. Any suggestions for equivalent fans or a single fan to replace all four (i.e. >2400 CFM) would be appreciated.

Canada does not use 410V, so that may be one reason you can't find a replacement. The voltages are 120, 208, 240, 277, 347, 480 and 600; although IMHO your best bet would be the lower voltages.

I had a problem as yours, I used a small bank of computer fans from the local computer shop and they worked better x 15% degrees than the originals and cheap to replace.

Try McMaster-Carr in Chicago. They have just about any thing you need, and cover quite a few types of fans. They are on the internet.
