How to Determine Rotor Slot Dimensions

02/06/2008 4:20 PM

I am designing a 36 slots 5.5 kW, 2P, 380V, 50 hz, 11 amp motor. I have designed the stator core and slots, but I have problems determining the rotor slot dimensions, is there a fomular that governs the relationship between slots of the stator dimensions and slots of the rotor dimensions?

I work in Africa, Zambia and I have big problems trying to get information to help me complete my design work.

The slots in the rotor must be big enough to carry the rotor current during start up or locked rotor.

As I think, but I'm not an expert, I should say rotor current equals stator current multiplied with number of windings per phase.

Note that the short circuit ring must have an even greater surface, to carry the current.

Why making your own motor and not bying something from the shelf?
