Light Powers Nanocar

05/03/2006 1:10 PM

Using organic molecules for the chassis, Rice University researchers have produced a nanocar that can propel itself with a motor fueled entirely by light. The motor consists of a pair of bonded carbon molecules that rotate when illuminated at a specific wavelength; the motor would act as a drive wheel to power the car. The project demonstrates the capabilities -- and the challenges -- of nanotechnology.

Is that how they powered the nanocar in this article?
When you get down that small a photon must have a massive amount of energy, comparatively.
