I want to find a supplier of used aluminium photo plates. Does anyone know where I could find these?

Most of the small daily newspapers that dot the country use aluminum press plates on a daily basis. The newspapaer in my home town used to advertise them "for sale" all the time. I would contact a small operation such as that to ask if they have anything like what you require. They make great siding and roofing material by the way.

Try can plants. The ones that make printed cans use them by the truck load unless they make only two piece cans. Two piece cans are extruded and not welded.

A lot of shops use paper press plates these days. OK for shorter runs and cheap/ Larger volume places still use metal. The big volume stuff is still rigid metal plates.

They are easy to get just buy them for a litle more than the plate recycler pays for the scrap aluminum. There are people who make deals with printers for the old plates, as aluminum is a valuable scrap metal these days

Most users of the stiff metal plates have deals with their suppliers to recycle them, since they are very valuable as scrap aluminium.

These heavy curved plates for long runs are the most valuable, being quite thick

The paper plates with a fine coating of aluminum have very little scrap or siding value. The heavier, but still flexible aluminum photoplates have their scrap value, or shack covering value.
