Hello simon2007@webmail.co.za

I assume you are talking about Winder ropes for mine hoists, cages and the like.

Are you planning a new installation?

Normally one contacts a wire rope maker, advising various criteria:

  1. Winder drum size = diameter and length
  2. Winder speed maximum/average
  3. Control system for winder
  4. Depth of shaft proposed
  5. Depth of shaft maximum possible = sometimes excavated deeper
  6. Load of ore in bucket hoist
  7. Load in Maximum number of men in bucket hoist
  8. Headworks height
  9. Number of operations down/up per hour expected
  10. Whether mine operated 24/7/365 or not - Advise hours per day
  11. Other specifics - advise....

The reason that it's best to contact the Engineers of a Wire Rope Maker, is they know their own product, and can best supply for your situation.

There are many Wire Rope Makers - In New Zealand we generally go by Cookes Wire Rope Tables, or John Shaw's tables - that is because both suppliers have local warehouses and advisory Engineers.

Hope that assists you.

Kind Regards....
