Anyone using Safari for a Web Browser?

02/15/2008 1:30 PM

Does anyone here use Safari for a web browser?

Does anyone use a Mac with Safari for browsing on CR4?

I ask because when I create or respond to a post I do not get a tool bar above the text box on my browser. In fact, I must manually add [ p ] to get new paragraphs and I do not know what I need to change to get Safari to work correctly.

I have the same issue with Safari on a Mac as I do when running on a PC.

Any ideas?

Thanks!!!

AH

I have the same problem, so I just don't use the family Mac to post on CR4, I consider it read only. I jump on my windows laptop to post...

Over a year ago, the designers for CR4 said they couldn't get Safari to work. This of course means they didn't have the time or resources, or else didn't communicate with Apple.

The solution is quite simple: download Firefox (it's free)! I use only Mac unless I absolutely have to use a PC, and I'm working on eliminating those few cases. I NEVER use my own PC on the internet!

I do have both Safari and Firefox, and use both. Whenever I have some kind of a problem with a particular website, I switch to the other browser, and it nearly always solves the problem.

You're welcome!

Veritas vos liberabit....La vérité rend libre..... De waarheid is bevrijdend ..... La verdad te libera....The truth will set you free.

I don't know about the other languages, but in Spanish, the future tense is La verdad te liberá.

A lot of this pain and suffering is caused by Java. You might try updating your Java if possible.

For some reason IE gets the newest version of Java first, which can cause its own problems by being too advanced for some programs to use. Anyway, if your browser doesn't work on a particular site, check your Java!

Typically, go to the Java website (http://www.java.com) and see if you have the latest version for your system. If not, upgrade. If you still have problems with certain sites, go back to the Java site and check the latest version IE is using. If it's higher, then you're kind of hooped!

You can also email a problematic site to ask them what version their site is using. Another thing you can do is Google the question, and see if anyone out there has found a work around. Also, ask Java when they're going to release the latest version of Java for Safari.

Hello, Vermin,

You're right in most cases Java upgrading can resolve the trouble. But as I noticed for some browsers it can't be remedy. I've several browsers in my Linux OS and neither Konqureror nor Opera can launch CR4 editor properly but Firefox only. I do not think that majority of Mac users treating out-of-date Java machine as well.

I think it depends how Java developers check their code for alternative browsers. Most of them satisfied its good working with IE7, some of them test their applets to be bug's free being launched for another popular browsers.

I would advice for anyone to use Firefox as in most cases it works good for such specific things like Java, Flash etc.

Regards.
