Chill water and cooling tower water treatment (HVAC)

02/17/2008 9:51 AM

Hello,

Can any body give me some information about water treatment related to HVAV Field,

I may need

what are the factors to be maintain?

Parameters to maintain ?

What are the chemical can be use?

For Both Chill water and Condenser water.

Also I want to know Condenser descaling procedure? Chemical we use? Concentration? Etc,

Thanks and Regards,

Ediri

Hello ediri69,

The following may help you to solve your problem on controlling scale and corrosion in air conditioning system:

The chemical used are:

Sodium Bichromate, for corrosion, 200 ppm as Na2CrO4 in chilled water water, w/ pH 7- 8.5

Sodium Nitrite, for corrosion in open spray system, 500 ppm as NaNO2 W/ pH 7.5 - 8.5

Sodium sulfite, for corrosion in hot closed system, 60 ppm as Na2SO3 w/ pH 7.5 - 8.5

Sodium hexametaphospate , for corrosion & scale in once -through system, 5ppm w/ pH 6- 6.8

Sodium silicate , for corrosion in open - spray system, 30 ppm, w/ pH 7- 8.6

Sodium Metasilicate, for corrosion in open spray system, 30 ppm as SiO2, w/ pH 7- 8.6

For condenser descaling, just try to prepare a water with HCL( muriatic acid) making the pH to 4, circulate it to condenser tubings using a centrifugal pump. Add acid when the pH rises up during the circulation, maintain it to pH 4. The circulation should be continued until the pH value of cleaning solution remain constant. ( for carbonate scale ).

Hi,

If you guys are looking for a safe and environmentally-friendly alternative to chemically treating your cooling water, there is a company that treats the water without chemicals. Since the water is free of chemicals, it is safe to reuse the discharge for applications like landscaping. Plus, it is safer for the employees that normally handle harmful chemicals.

Here is the website: www.vrtxtech.com

Hope that helps!
