Thorium metal fuel

02/17/2008 8:01 PM

Does anyone know where I can get physical properties of a thorium plutonium metal alloy for use in a fast breeder? I have searched far and beyond and gotten nowhere...

Why can't find this information from your colleagues, or your company library?

I know that it sounds that simple... but its not. The problem is that thorium plutonium metal fuel hasn't been used in nuclear reactors. I have found some articles that give the results of various irradiation experiments but none that disclose these types of properties. I have emailed several professionals currently employed at Argonne National Labs in the hopes of getting some information..

I suspect the properties of this material will be very difficult to find in public domain. I suspect very high level of security is in place. Please amplify why you need the information?
