Alternatives for Button Cell Battery

02/29/2008 3:27 PM

Button Cell Battery- I have a battery made with a trade name ONGLE and a reference number "AG 13". Can anyone give me some equivalents as noone here in Mexico recognizes the reference ? The battery was bought in a torch in the UK. Any ideas ?

This is a good candidate for a google search. Anyhow having worked in the battery industry in the past, look in the store for an LR44. This is a common battery and you should be able to find it in radio shack or even walmart, although im not sure what you have in mexico.

There is a 13 size button cell battery that is used for hearing aids, watches calculators and other devices. It's size is about 0.310 inches in diameter and 0.210 inches high.

IF this is right is would likely be the alkaline version in that battery size.

A chain like Radio Shack in the US probably has it or try stores that sell calculators and watches. Do not use the zinc air hearing aid version. It will have a very short life in your application.

Good luck,

Ralph

Thanks Guest. Absolutely spot on. I find it amazing that one miserable battery can have so many equivalents. Amongst which, FrankD20, is your L44. Why not have just one reference number ? Saves everyone in the business money, wholesaler, and retailer, but obviously not all the b.....y manufacturers who I suppose believe that they each have something different !

LR44 is the standard IEC name, everything else is just a referenced name. For example An LR6 is more commonly known as a AA alkaline battery, but the LR number is the standard and every battery can be referenced back to it.
