Sealing Glass Holding Oil with Plastic Lid...

03/09/2008 10:03 PM

I am looking for suggestions for an epoxy or silicone to seal a glass container that has a plastic lid. The glass container will hold motor oil, so I need something that will connect well with glass and plastic and not deteriorate when touching oil. Any suggestions will be appreciated! I have used PC-7 in the past and had good results.

Hello Guest,

  1. Is this "sealed with a plastic lid glass bottle" intended to be shipped or transported locally or interstate?
  2. Will it be shipped or transported internationally?
  3. Is it intended to just stay a'sittin' on a shelf, in your workshop or similar place?
  4. Are you planning on storing/selling/shipping more than one of this type of bottle/plastic lid container?

If (1) above, you will require shipping registered type container/lid plus packing.

If (2) above, you will require shipping registered type container/lid plus packing, and additional certification + Customs advice etc

If (3) above, check you comply with local rules re storage, and also check with your Insurers, if there is more than a very small amount stored.

If (4) above, it is probably better to use a commercially available combination of bottle/lid, which is already approved for your purposes.

I do not know all the variables, and if you reply, with it would assist in helping you.

Kind Regards....

Douse plastic lid with lacquer thinner then quickly place lid onto glass container
