Make CR4 more user-friendly

03/13/2008 2:51 PM

I need help to be more efficient as a CR4 participant. While considering my situation, I thought of a competition. If you might want to help me and simultaneously compete, write the time to the nearest second that you finish reading the NEXT PARAGRAPHS for the first time. This will allow you to post the answer(s) and how many seconds (round off to the nearest 10 seconds) before you started typing. (This minimizes typing or reading speed as a bias to determining speed of thinking). If the answer is too complicated or not detailed enough for me to follow, add 6 minutes to your time prior to typing! Correctly proving that there is no answer acceptable to me is a possible answer. (Two different and correct ways are scored by taking the square root of the actual seconds to find the 2nd answer. Three different ways are scored by taking the 4th root of the actual seconds). Proving there is no answer by my criteria is an answer. NOTE: Decide if you are going to compete for time and how you will record your time if you find more than one answer BEFORE YOU READ THE NEXT PARAGRAPH to get a valid time. I use Earthlink (ISP and email), Windows XP, and Office.

Problem: I long have wanted to change my email address to receive CR4, from Earthlink email address "Dave" to Earthlink email address "Pete". I did not figure out the right way, so I had CR4 to be also emailed to "Pete" intending to discontinue CR4 being emailed to "Dave." I find "Pete" appears when I select the hot button at the buttom of today's CR4 "Change your e-mail or edit your GlobalSpec profile here." on a CR4 emailed to "Dave".

What can I do?

Unacceptable answers

Tell CR4 to stop emailing to "David" and risk CR4 being discontinued simultaneously to "Dave" and "Pete". CR4 email in my archives would allow me to restart CR4, but LIFE IS too SHORT for THIS (LIST).

Start CR4 email to Juno before telling CR4 to stop emailing to "Dave", to assure CR4 can be restarted if "Dave" and "Pete" are simultaneously discontinued. (LIST)

Communicate to CR4 administrators via Specs and Standards or other programs associated with CR4 . (LIST).

Designating CR4 as Spam on "Dave" is not allowed by Earthlink. Calling Earthlink technical assistance is (LIST).

Email or phone a CR4 administrator unless the contact information is on the CR4 email. (LIST).

Pray to the God who inspired the Bible. The problem is too insignificant.

Is the email address you are using via your CR4 profile different from the one you are using at GlobalSpec? Note; CR4 and GlobalSpec are different systems with different registration profiles, so if you change your email address in your CR4 profile it will not automatically change at GlobalSpec (and vice versa). You will receive two versions of the Daily Digest, one to each email address. If you have a different email address at each account, you can unsubscribe from the Daily Digest from either profile and you will still receive it at the other.

So, if you changed your email address on CR4 (Dave), but left it the same in your GlobalSpec profile (Pete), you will continue to receive a CR4 Daily Digest addressed to "Pete".

1. How do I learn my GlobelSpec profile, in case I want to change it?

2. I would like both my GlobelSpec and my CR4 profiles to be sent to gosh2@earthlink.net. In case nobody else is interested in my situation, could you email your answer to me directly?

Hi Xn Rubber Chemist Quey,

Your CR4 profile is already set to the gosh2 email address, so that does not need to change. However, your GlobalSpec profile, which you reference in your original post is likely set to another address. Check that one and see if it needs to be changed to the gosh2 address.
