One use alternating current. One use direct current.

1. AC drive is for AC motors and DC drive is for DC motors

2. AC drive is working in the principle of 'Pulse width modulation technique' and DC drive is working in the principle of 'Controlled rectifier mechanism'.

3. The speed in the DC drive is varied by altering the firing angle of SCRs and that of the AC drive is with 'V/F' technique.

4. In the DC drive there is one stage which is 'Rectifier section' whereas in the AC drive there are two stages which are 'Converter section' and 'Inverter section'.

Does anyone know what type of drive is MOST efficient and why?

Cyclo do not operate near unit pf, but between LCI and VSI, which one is really more efficient?
