How the harmonics affects on the losses of transformer???

What is the % of different harmonics in transformer???

Harmonics always increase the loss of transformers, mainly the iron loss.

The flux becomes 'flat toppped', higher eddy currents and hence higher losses. Besides, harmonics give rise to something called magnetostiction, which results in increased core vibration and humming sound. This is again harmful for the transformer.

Hope thats enough.
