Debris Control and Particles Suspended in Air

The product is 94% plastic and it charges too quickly from static electricity attracting the particles. To reduce the particles suspended in the air is it better to increase the humidity in the environment or ionize the air? We have control over the input of material, the wear, and maintain positive pressure in the room.

By all means- maintain room humidity at 50%. It is easy to do, highly effective at controlling static and will be a health boost to workers as well. Air at 50% RH has the highest level of bacteria and virus mortality- they die faster, LOTS FASTER. For small areas, the best method is to use a high grade sensor and a steam-based system (with disposable generating units) in the supply airstream. A less expensive way (if you have the space available) is to mount ultrasonic humidifiers in the room (maybe on wall shelves) and control their power supply with the sensor noted above. Humidity travels at the speed of sound in air adn seeks equilibrium, so all of the room will be evenly humidified without "wet spots". Use DI or at least RO/distilled water in the ultrasonic humidifiers to avoid "creating" fine mineral dust.

On this case is more convenient use the RH behalf the ionizer air to control the debris and the ESD, because is more cheaper than ionize the air, but what secondary effects may have if we use both system the HR non affect the ionize air or viceverse, because as long I can understand with RH system we can solve the majority of the problems. Thanks in advance for the help

Sorry for the delay in response- my email did not indicate your response/question being posted. The RH control should take care of virtually all issues. Ionizing will be essentially neutralized by the 50% RH environment. I you still need some assistance in controlling dust, I suggent that you use a DC source to apply a "positive" charge to the pieces with some type of stranded metal (like christmas tinsel) "brush" that contacts the part during time in the room. Positive charge will repel dust, negative charge (from handling) attracts it. Good luck.
