Motor driven or engine driven?

Den Hartog does a great treatment of this process useing Holzer tables. I suggest that you either purchase this book, or check it out from a university library. You can't go wrong with Den Hartog...

Pignone should have done an torsional analysis, have you contacted them for the results?

The analysis involves determining the torsional stiffness and inertia of each part of the machine, and then from that determining the torsional natural frequencies. If there are forcing frequencies in the machine that match up with natural frequencies then the machine design must be changed.
