Particle Feeder Needed

06/15/2006 7:16 AM

Karl writes:
We have not been able to locate a supplier, which can guarantee an orderly delivery of a batch of particles onto a conveyor. The particles are arbitrary in size (2 mm to 4o mm), mass and shape and need to be delivered one at a time from a batch of up to 22 lbs. The speed of the conveyor is 10 mm/sec and the distance between particles on the conveyor must be greater than 20 mm. Anybody out there with a solution, please contact us.

Pellet delivery

06/16/2006 10:56 AM

Karl, AMT could likely design a feed solution. I would suggest a vibratory feeder with a collection drop 4mm wide, two gates and a visual system to be sure only one particle made it past the second gate. The visual system would control the second gate time in case two smaller pellets make it past the first gate. My questions would be: how fragile are the pellets. How uniform is the shape? And, of course, what have you tried so far? This doesn't seem so difficult to me. I'm surprised you haven't found something off the shelf. Eric Schneider Applied Mechanical Technologies 585-475-1680 x583 or, since I'm off site on a project: Tony Ilacqua, President 585-475-1680 x555 You'll have to give Tony more detail since he might not have read this.
