Calculating Single phase motor current

Dear Sir,

I want to know for the 0.35kw single phase motor, how to calculate the current

Power is volts times amps (as a workable approximation without going into all the claver powerfactor stuff) so divide your 0.35kw by your mains voltage and that will give the current (RMS) .

e.g at 230v 350/230= 1.5 A approx
at 110v 350/110=3.2A approx

If you are using these figures to select a fuse rating then take care as fuses are not precise and there will also be surge currents and such like.
I'd use say 3 amp and 5 amp fuses respectively.

I'm quite happy to be contradicted on any of this as I'm only normally allowed to play with 5volts 'cos I'm a Cat .
