what is trace and retrace in television system.....

I can only think you mean the line write time = trace and the flyback time = retrace...

As the electrons are sprayed onto the front phospher coated surface CRT from left to right for 64 microseconds (PAL) the flyback time is made as fast as possible to stop wasting time, so the flyback time or retrace is less than 5 microseconds approx.

Once a half page has been written to the screen, the beam is blanked for a new field to be interlaced and written... So this could also be called the field retrace or blanking time...
