Duct calculating

I have a duct plan and there are 10 units with 1450 CFM and each unit have four diffuser and i am asked to install rectangular duct can u tell me how can i calculate the Width and Height (area) for the duct if u want i can send u the plan copy plz do explain me how it is done the area of my duct i will be waiting for your Ans.

Have you used a Manual D? It should provide all the information needed.

hi, for your case u have a unit of 1450 cfm with four diffusers, so each diffuser outlet is 360cfm. coming to the duct sizing you shall consider the velocity and the space acailable above false ceiling for duct sizing.

if u go for exessive velocities, noise prolems will increase, so for optimum case and general applications we use 6m/s in mail ducts and 3-4m/s limiting velocity in branch ducting.

to avoid initial cost and working cost we can use maximum of 1:4 aspect ratio. however depending on site conditions we will go for higher aspect ratios.
