Measuring % of opaque solids flowing in wastewater

03/25/2008 3:15 PM

Looking for a DYI (low cost) design that allows for non contact measurement of % of opaque solids flowing in wastewater within a 2" clear horizontal Plexiglas tube. Tube wastewater flow rate is variable from 1/8 to 1/2 full. My first inclination is to go optical, but I am unsure how to account for variable flow rates.

Did you mean that the varying flow rate causes the level to vary from 1/8 to 1/2?

Commercial optical turbidimeters require a full tube. Good luck Guest.

You might be able to do what medical personal are counting cells in a fluid - I believe it's called cytology, and it uses laser technology.

Good luck!

Use a Markland inline acoustical suspended solids meter. The variable flowrate does not make a difference.
