In this country, I know of very few company's that do recycling in house. It requires very expensive equipment operated by highly trained personnel. Of course, here, we have strict government guidelines to follow. You should try to find a company that specializes in this, they may even pay you for these used lubricants, but just to make them go away is payment enough.

Most used oil in America is not recycled per se, but instead burned as fuel in Cement kilns or used for heating in auto shops during the winter. There are a few recycling operations, but they are not very big.

Well, I guess if the oil is being burnt, it can be considered recycled. We evaporate our used cutting oil, a company takes this away, cleans it, and has a use for it other than to burn. There is government grants out there for true oil recycling opperations, I know of a few, but you are right, it's not big yet. I fear in other countries it gets dumped in a river somewhere. This guys best bet is to look into a used oil burner, not really expensive, and at least he can get someting out of it.
