Dear sir

Please tell me how the charging time, voltage, and ampere of a battery(e.g. 20 AH) is decided?

Best way is to get onto the manufacturers web site, as it depends on the battery chemistry/construction...
I think the AH rating divided by 10 as a current is an accepted 'standard'.
E.G 20AH therefore charge at 20/10 (or 2 as we sometimes call it) amps.

The more important question is deciding when to stop charging and what (if any) is an acceptable trickle charge.

Hello Guest,

These days good battery chargers are Computer Controlled, like the charger I use myself.

Here is a good example of a 6+12+24 Volt at 10 Amps Charger for Lead-Acid Car/Truck/motorcycle/Gel-Cell-Lead-Acid batteries.

Apologies for the poor quality of the scans, the unit is excellent, but the paper the instructions were printed on, is rather thin, and the other side has partly scanned through.

Please note the specially designed charging curve, which is different for plain Lead-Acid Battery, and a different curve for the Lead-Acid-Gel-Cell Battery.

Trust that assists you.

Kind Regards....
