Stock Steel Sizing

04/03/2008 12:23 PM

Looking for material information (Canada/US):

-Where can find detailed information about dimensions on angle iron and square steel tubing (namely the rounds)? Aluminium too? Is there a standard or common practice?

-Standards for A36 sheet and bar sizes?

-Flame cutting parameters (size thru holes can cut, how big flame diameter gets) as material thickness increases for structural steel?

Looking for any information links.

Absolutely!

Try to find a copy of the AISC LRFD (American Institute for Steel Construction - Load and Resistance Factor Design) book. This tome has section properties (dimensions, weights, moments of inertia for X & Y directions), beam and column loading calculations, and easy to use graphical solutions for choosing sections based on what you calculate for maximum moments & lengths etc.
