Overvoltage in AC Motor Windings

04/04/2008 4:02 AM

Good Morning from rainy Thessaloniki (Greece)

As i am quite busy at the office i will ask my question right away.

It occured from a real case in a factory yesterday.

Can a reactor installed between the inverter and the AC motor (at the output of the inverter to be exact)be responsible of overvoltage on the motors windings when it starts working at higher speed and why?

Have a nice day.

The answer is yes, but not directly.. Your drive frequencies may be to high at upper end speeds, or your reactor may be sized wrong..
