Reclaim Time of Auto Recloser

04/11/2008 4:14 AM

We set reclaim time of auto recloser 40 sec (with single shot recloser) and we use circuit breaker with O-0.3s-CO-3min-CO. If 1 minute after successfully reclosed (open and close) then we have another fault, Can it reclose again (open and close) ? Is it any relation between 3 minute of Circiut breaker and 40 sec of reclaim time ?

best regards

Jemjem

Yes there is differences on the thermal properties.3 min will allow the breakes to cool down and stable restart.May i know ,you are using it to protect Earth fault or Load.

The reclaim time is the time following the CB being reclosed. During this time, if the breaker is tripped due to protection or manually, the AR either advances to the next shot (if it is programmed for multi-shots), or goes to lockout if all programmed reclose attempts have been made. If the CB remains closed until the reclaim timer times-out, the AR shall be ready for another reclosing operation.

The (3 min) is the time interval between two operations which is necessary to restore the initial conditions and/or prevent undue heating of parts of the CB.

So, no relation between the two times.

Regarding your question, where a fault occurred one min later after a successful reclosing, the AR should reclose the CB.

Regrets, the last paragraph have been corrected as indicated underlined.

So, no relation between the two times.

Regarding your question, where a fault occurred one min later after a successful reclosing, the AR should not reclose the CB. Becsuse the CB requires a certain time between two reclosing operations which is checked by the AR relay before a new auto reclosing takes place.
