Last August the bookmaker Ladbrokes opened the betting on detecting gravity waves by 2010 at 500:1. By now, the odds have shortened to 2:1. Professor Hough of Glasgow University reckons the chances of detecting gravitational waves over the next two years are something like 50:50, with a almost 100% chance by 2013. This is largely due to the projected improvement in sensitivity of the detectors. So…, would you bet on it?
