relay module timer for PIR detector

If I use a PIR detector to trigger a relay mosule, how can I determine how long (in my case 12V DC) the trigger out will be enabled?

PIRs usually have a control for the ON time, built in. If you didn't want to use that, you could use e.g. a 555 triggered by the start of the PIR ON signal, and use that to drive your relay.

Any suggestions for an outdoor rated PIR that is of good quality and fair price?

Sorry, mate - I think they're all much of a muchness. Don't know where you're from, but round here I'd just go to any of the big DIY places. Most of these things are made pretty well - they'd be it trouble if even 5% were returned U/S - that would be thousands of them! The manufacturer would be kicked off the books as a supplier to the DIY chain - so they have to be a bit careful.
