PIR detection and solar power

04/14/2008 11:03 AM

I am working on a CCTV project. We need a low power PIR module for triggering a solar powered system when movement is detected. We are planning on using an Altronix relay module for 12V supply at approx 2500ma. What detectors are available?

Hi Roger,

I can provide such a device as I have a design that I have used on several projects and that is quite low power and can be adapted. Can you provide additional specifications such as the required operating range, the available power and how many units you would require?

My PIR sensor design draws 35 microamps. Of course turning on a relay would incur additional power but I am using a latching relay in one design so that continuous power is not required.

Hi You find the Dynalite DUS 704 or the wall mount will do what you want coupled with their relay depending on your current requirements. The control voltage for both is 12VDC and the current would be < 100 mA per unit. /http://www.dynalite-online.com/Product_Docs/dus704/Documents%20-%20Public/DUS704%20Data%20Sheet%20Rev%20C.pdf
