Drop less rectifier

Main disadventage of diode rectifier is heat and energy loss. If we use low rdsOn MOSFET instead of diode with proper gate drive we can safe energy droped in diode as well as reduce heat. Also we can avoid heatsink for diode

Mosfets can fail for no apparent reason and are very susceptible to voltage spikes...eg. from static discharge

Reliability would be a problem...I'd think.

It's called "Synchronous Rectification" and is used everywhere. The rectification MOSFETs are also switched to lower inrush currents and reduce electrical noise.
