what some electrical devices are rated in kva other in watt????

Hello Guest,

The larger electrical items are normally rated in kVA or MVA.

The reason is that in AC circuits, current and voltage are not necessarily "in step" because of inductance and/or capacitance in the circuit.

Watts is a term which may be applied to a DC circuit, or an AC circuit with "Unity Power Factor = Where the Voltage and current are exactly in phase with each other".

KVA denotes a purely resistive load. Transformers use KVA designations.
