WATER COOLED AIR COMPRESSORS

04/25/2008 11:43 AM

PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO REDUCE CARBONISATION IN AIR COMPRESSORS WHICH ARE WATER COOLED AND IS THERE ANY SOLVENT WHICH CAN BE ADDED TO FRESH WATER THAT IS CICULATED IN THE CYLINDER JACKETS AND THE INTERCOOLERS SO THAT THE SCALE FORMATION CAN BE MINIMISED

use a closed loop system with commercial antifreeze. It will have corrosion inhibitors.

Dear vicini,

u r right that antifreez solvents are good, but don't u think so that it will be more costlier.

coz, if u use good water treat chemicals like 6555,6333,6331, u can easily reduce ur corrosion, but don't try HCL or any hard acids.

first of all find ur water quality. then consult with water treat engineers to reduce scaling, ur water quality must not more that PH-8, & TDS-50PPM

Guest, it is pretty hard for me to take you seriously when you post in an engineering forum and you are too lazy to spell the words you, your, or you are. In this forum you are not texting your girl friend you are communicating with a group of professionals.

IMHO

True, and there is also a spell checker here. But perhaps English is their second language.

To prevent scale in closed loop systems, the make up water should always be softened. From my years of experience "closed" loop systems are seldom really closed. They have leaks and take on water. If the water is hard, scaling will occur regardless of the chemicals used. Corrosion inhibitors are usually effective in reducing corrosion, but the scale inhibitors used will breakdown and soon become ineffective in reducing scale. Softening the make up is thus your best option.

We manufacture a non-chemical system that becomes part of the pipework and prevents scaling in compressors. If water conditions are right. WE have over 35 years experience in this field and guarantee success against scaling.
