Sharepoint woes

04/25/2008 6:13 PM

Hi Gang:

We use Sharepoint at work to store just about every document, drawing, etc. It's hell to try to retreive something. Anybody else having trouble with Sharepoint?

Hank

Factors:

Number of workstations on the network

average file size

internet shared traffic?

10baseT, 100baseT or fiber?

server bandwidth

The commonest network choker is network server is also used as internet server.

A capable network analyst will spend a few hours and tell you what you need to do.

A Sun network analyst = buy Sun kit, same for IBM, so try to get an analyst with no commercial ties or bias

Hank,

Do you have a qualified Sharepoint administrator?

Hi Gang:

Thanks for your replies. We don't have a qualified Admin person, but tha's just my opinion. I think the main problem is the file structure, as they set it up, is all wrong.

Vermin, thanks for your suggestions, but I'm just a user and IT gets very ticked if someone questions what "they" have chosen. I can't even download and try out a program I think might be useful before they have a chance to check it out to see if it's something "they" decide we can have. Really, we have handcuffs on here.

Thanks for listen' to me ramble anyway.

Hank
