Turret Punch Press for Chassis Long Member

04/28/2008 7:14 AM

I need a turret punch press for punching holes on chassis long member, on both web & flange of the C - section. Our section has a range of 240*60mm to 320*90m. The thickness of the beams would vary from 5mm to 10mm and the material is Domex650 (tensile stength 65kg/sq mm). The tonnage would be 80 - 100 T.

I have used a machine from Belgium earlier, which is very good. His present delivery time is very high (16 months). I would like to know, if there are any manufacturer in US for such a press.

I have already googled & got 65000 results in 0.3 seconds. After 10 pages I gave up.

Thanks a lot

Hydraulic press is a solution. In my earlier organization I had used a 5000T hydraulic press for this. The productivity is very high, but the investment on tools & the lead timeis high; also, the flexibility is low even with modular tools. With a turret press single piece flow is possible, with very low inventory.

Just curious, what about the tonnage figure put you off? It is = to an average thirteen year old and an average 8 year old using a pry bar about 1/4 mile long. About 22" ID actuator at medium pressure.

Venkat,

Perhaps you would also be interested in an on-line vision inspection system which counts holes on the long chassis member as it comes out of the press on the out feed conveyor. DuraVision Systems is a Pune based machine vision company specializing in industrial inspection systems. We have developed and deployed an inspection system specifically to count holes on long chassis member after the notching operation. This system is in operation in two factories in India including Tata Motors, Jamshedpur. You can write to me at kishor.durve@duravision.in

This may sound off topic to some but this solution is extremely helpful in detecting punch breakage and avoiding missing holes in notched parts.
