I Am Looking for SS Banana Plugs

04/29/2008 5:43 AM

Hello,

I am looking to find a source for these connectors.

Any help in finding them would be appreciated.

Richard

It's a good idea when posting a photo like this to give something for scale. Best not to use a coin, as it's too localized. Ideally, include a graduated scale (and made sure it's obvious whether it's mm or inches or whatever).

Am I right in thinking these are 4mm plugs?

What's the biggest twist drill shaft you can (comfortably) fit into the socket? It's always difficult to measure the diameter of something like a banana plug.

4mm is a standard size - 3/16" is about 43/4mm.

The socket size is 5/32".

I do appreciate your help.

Yup - that's 4mm!

Just got to find a supplier, now!

I'll have a look around - suggest you do the same. Whoever gets there first, post it here.

Regards, John

Ok... the source is Lignomat; www.lignomat.com or Brunner Hildebrand www.hildebrandbrunner.com . I can tell you they are not cheap! $7.80 each USD.

Surely there is a connector out there that is cheaper and will hold up to a kiln's environment. Max temp is 180 f and humidity at times has to be close to 100 %.

If anyone has any ideas I am open to suggestions.

Glad you found it - I didn't get far. I was close to suggesting you contact a local engineering shop & getting a price for them to make the backshells - you could probably use the plug part from something fairly cheap (throwing away their plastic backshell).

I saw some around with backshells that looked mostly metal - you'd need to check out the temp & RH spec for the plastic bits. I think the main problem is that the backshell is almost invariably insulated from the working end.
