WHat is round galvanized steel used for ?

I have seen bol;ts that were galvanized.

Also flat roll, used for pails and guard rails.

What kind of galvanize process?

Is this a trick question?

guest, do you mean thickness of coating?

Vague question.

Is it hot dipped? electroplated?

What is the silicon content?

Be specific, or you can search website of www.galvanizeit.org.

You have to be kidding?

Could you please include the other 3 or 4 sentences you left out of your home work assignment?

Optimum based on what criteria? Is it a fence post or a nuclear reactor? Is it for a car chassis or an airplane? What are the geometric properties of the section and can the section be changed?

Diameters and cost? Are we talking about schedule 40 or 80 pipe?

Your question leaves a lot to the imagination to say the least.

Galvanized nuclear reactor?

Forgot to correct for the Neutron Cross sectional capture area of the Zinc of the galvanize! Damn,. I hate when that happens.

He is of course correct for solid bar stock, however, the most important requirement for hollow pipe is that the ID is less than the OD or else the hole will be on the outside of the pipe and your plumbing will leak.
