What Brand of Videoscope???

05/11/2008 4:26 PM

Hello community!

I am to purchase a videoscope Remote Visual Inspection kit for carrying out internal inspections of our wind turbine gearboxes. As with everything their are all sorts of brands and the choice is confusing. I have narrowed it down to two options...

1) IT Concepts, 6mm X 2m videoscope portable kit.

2) Broch, 6mm X 2m portable videoscope kit.

Both of these are based on price and quality, has anyone out there has experience of either? The kit will be used in almost total darkness, the area will be relatively warm and heavy in synthetic oil.

Any help or guidance greatly appreciated.

Best regards

You could try a make of video probe i have just aquired from a company called sealey.

it retail for approx £275 (11mm dia x 900mm length) it does depend on how nuch you want to spend as we also have a video borescope that cost £1700 (Henke Sasse Wolf) check out both makes on the net and see what you think, good luck.

Gidday scot.r111,

I use the Rigid See Snake 100m length camera system (video) {put down bore holes, up drill holes etc} and the Rigid See Snake Micro.

Both good systems. Very, very hardy. I work in a mine and we treat ours like crap.

From now until August 7, if you demo a locator, you can get a FREE seesnake. Search for RIDGID on the GlobalSpec site and you'll find info.

Scott

Depending upon the type of gearbox you need either 3.9mm or 6 mm diameter scopes, a Snake Eye would be totally unsuitable.

Thanks,

Hadn't had time to research this brand yet. You're right I need a 6mm scope. A 3.9 would cover more eventualities but the 6 is more robust and the light is better (so I am informed by Olympus). I am having a demonstration tomorrow on the Iplex MX-R and Iplex FX-R. The Everest units come in way to much!

thanks for the input

Well that is a matter of opinion ! and don't be surprised by the price comparison.

Both manufacturers make very good kit, but it is not cheap, hence why we are in business
