Venting HP gas: tubing specn.

05/14/2008 11:18 AM

We are installing a panel which has a number of valves to allow a pump to pressurise Nitrogen gas to 15,000 psi (1034 bar).

We want to run the vent (bleed off) lines into the existing pipework which is 1/2" OD x 0.064" wall x 316SS tube.

On the previous system we installed I used the same specn tube as for the HP test i.e. 20K rated 3/8" OD x .203" ID.

I am concerned that should the icing during venting up close up the bore of the 1/2" tube so that back pressure could build up and burst the pipe, or will the velocity allow the bore to be maintained to prevent this?

help please

So, why not rate the discharge pipe to 15,000psi, and not worry about it bursting?
