NanoDetection Technology, The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC), St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Oak Ridge National Laboratory are teaming up to develop a mobile product that can detect avian influenza. The device will use NanoDetection Technology's patented biochip to detect light produced as a result of a chemical reaction (e.g., DNA hybridization or protein conjugation) in positive tests. According to the company's CEO, the test is "cowboy simple" and can be performed by farmers instead of Ph.D.s.
