Pricing Iron and Steel

05/20/2008 9:45 AM

Hi all,

I need help in verifying my supplier's claim that steel prices are rising at a fast pace. I can't seems to find any free websites which I can view the prices of steel for reference. Anyone can recommend such a website?

Thanks.

This site tracks the commodities that become steel, aluminum, brass etc.

What you are being told is True.

Read the Chicago Board of Trade prices in almost any major newspaper. They deal in scrap steel futures. Scrap steel typically tracks new steel quite well (except as a percentage less than 100%). Most metals suppliers will use some such index for their pricing; ask your supplier which one he uses. Some even quote that way.
