AC motors vs. DC brushless motors

05/26/2008 5:16 PM

I'm looking for the Pros and Cons of switching out AC fan motors and replacing them with DC brushless motors.

Thank you

Thank you Perry

I'll search carrier corp.

My application would be replaceing ac fan motors on evaporator units in walkin coolers.

What I think I already understand is that they would disapate less heat. What I'm curious about is.

1. Do they use less power

2. Do they have a longer life.

Again thank you for your response, and I'm sorry they don't have spell check.

Peter

One of the advantages of DC brush less motor is the no loss in rotor as the rotor runs in synchronism with the field.Efficiency is higher compared to AC Motors.Particularly in a speed variation application, the inverter ac motor combination will be much less efficient. It compares favorably on prices in lower ratings but in higher ratings the cost is very high.
