There is a company in canada that sells e franchise to repair broken down double glazed sealed units, i am interested in ths business but i dont like the idea of a franchise. the main part of the idea is a valve that allows moisture to escape. wehere can i find a manufacturer or a supplier of these valves

regards

Dave

Another possibility is inserting some granules of silica gel in the space between the panes.

Never heard of an insulated glass unit(IGU) repaired with a valve to keep it from fogging up. More is being done then just putting in this valve. The moisture would not be there if the seal had not failed.

When constructed the IGU a desiccant is place inside the unit before the glass is sealed a round it perimeter. It will absorb any moisture left inside the atmosphere of the sealed unit. If it is fogging up the desiccant is saturated with moisture.

I have heard of repairs made if the unit can be resealed from the outside of drilling a hole after the seal is repaired and replacing the inside atmosphere with an inert gas like argon then sealing the hole.

Only valve that I know of is one used for shipping purposes to equalize pressure due to elevation changes. It is to be sealed upon installation.
